Now, with Talkative’s new and improved Widget Editor, you have more power and flexibility to tailor that experience to your brand, your workflow, and your customers’ needs.

From the 1st December 2025, all Talkative customers will be opted into the new editor. An opt-out to the legacy editor remains available until the 26th January 2026.

A more flexible, intuitive way to build your widget

The new Widget Editor gives you complete control over how your chat widget looks, behaves, and responds to every customer. 

You can now customise:

  • Themes & branding: Quickly adapt colours, logos, and design elements to match your brand identity.
  • Welcome cards: Build online/offline greeting experiences with text, images, videos, and custom buttons.
  • Nudges: Create subtle on-page prompts that encourage engagement - ideal for guiding customers or increasing conversions.
  • Data collection forms: Design multi-field forms (including dropdowns, ratings, and text inputs) to capture the right information at the right time.
  • Visibility rules: Decide exactly when each card, form, or nudge appears based on queue status, URL, or other contextual triggers.
  • Language strings & chat buttons: Control all standard widget text and customise the appearance of the minimised chat button.

Redesigned theme & layout controls

Brand consistency matters - and the new theme area makes it easier than ever to achieve.

You can fine-tune your widget’s colour palette, rearrange visual segments, and preview design changes instantly.

Welcome cards: richer, smarter entry points

Welcome cards have been completely overhauled, giving you more ways to structure customer greetings.

You can now:

  • Add new segments (text, image, video, buttons)
  • Drag and drop elements into your preferred order
  • Create dedicated online/offline variants
  • Route customers to queues, chatbots, or forms with configurable call-to-action buttons

A built-in navigational preview lets you jump between cards quickly, while the Preview & Visibility area makes it simple to test how each card behaves in different scenarios.

Advanced visibility rules & real-time preview

The updated visibility map helps you control exactly when cards or nudges appear.

For example, you might show an “Offline” card only when your support queue is unavailable, or display a tailored welcome message exclusively on pricing pages.

You can then use the preview simulation to test behaviour based on queue status, URL, or other rule conditions - ensuring your widget always works as expected before you publish.

Nudges: guide customers at the perfect moment

Nudges are lightweight pop-ups that draw attention to key actions or messages.

With the new editor, they now function much like mini welcome cards, with support for images, text, buttons, and custom styling.

You can also adjust placement, background behaviour, and visibility rules to ensure nudges feel helpful - not intrusive.

Data collection forms: build richer pre-chat journeys

The new forms builder lets you design flexible, multi-step data capture flows. You can add fields like:

  • Dropdowns
  • Ratings
  • Free-text inputs
  • Conditional visibility sections

Forms can then be linked to your welcome cards or nudges to ensure you capture the right details before a conversation begins.

Language strings & chat button customisation

Need to adjust specific widget text? Want to modify the appearance of the minimised chat button?

The dedicated Language Strings and Chat Button sections give you fine-grained control over these elements.

This includes the ability to upload custom icons or add optional button text.

Advanced settings for specialist use cases

For organisations with complex requirements, the Advanced Settings area offers additional configuration options.
